Creating a dream wedding is a team effort, and we love introducing the people that we get to work with every year! Today we will be meeting Corina. She’s da bomb! When you meet her, you’ll understand why!

Hi! Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Corina Waldie and I am the Owner and Creative Director of Your Personal Fairy Tale. I am a certified wedding planner and designer and focus on offering full planning services for Edmonton, the Rocky Mountains and Destinations worldwide.

What makes you unique in your field?
I focus on creating bespoke weddings that provide an immersive experience that shares the stories and personalities of my couple through the many elements that make up a wedding day. I build a wedding from the ground up to specifically meet the needs, wants and desires of my couples. I offer only full planning and design services to ensure I can curate this process and provide the highest level of attention and support to each of my couples.

Why do you love what you do?
There are so many things that I love about weddings, but I think the number one thing is that I love working with my clients to create something that is truly them. Your wedding marks a celebration of your love and the beginning of your married life, and I think it should be a deeply personal celebration that is so much more than the typical. I consider it such a special privilege to be included in the creation of their special day.

What is one main thing that you wish couples knew about what you do?
When you hire a planner, we’re not here to take over and dictate everything to do with your wedding. We are here to make your vision come to life and be in your corner every step of the way. You are still very much in the driver’s seat. We’re here to be your advisors, show you the best options for your wedding, and take care of the details, so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the journey.

What is you favourite restaurant in Edmonton?
The Melting Pot. I’m in love with all things fondue and love the experience they offer.

What is your favourite Edmonton festival?
I’m a foodie who loves wine, so it’s a toss-up between Taste of Edmonton and the Rocky Mountain Food and Wine Festival. What the truck is also a lot of fun too.

What would you recommend to couples as being the best date night in Edmonton?
I’ve been married for over 7 years to my wonderful hubby, and we still find time to date often. We’re all about the experience and quality time, so finding something that’s different than usual that allows us to focus on each other is my preferred choice for a date night. It could be finding a quiet little restaurant we’ve never been to before or wandering one of Edmonton’s many festivals. A few times we’ve even driven out to Elk Island in the middle of the night, just to watch the stars. In the winter, it could be checking out Christmas lights, or finding a place to snowshoe together. It’s about making moments for romance rather than big one-off romantic gestures that are so important.

What countries have you visited, and what was the most memorable experience?
I’ve been all over Canada, the US and Mexico, and hope to add Europe in the next year or so. One of the most memorable experiences was in Mexico and going horseback riding through the jungle, galloping on the beach, then taking the saddles off and riding the horses right into the ocean. Was definitely an experience I still remember many years later.
