Today we get to meet another fantastic wedding vendor in the Edmonton area. Not only is she a wonderful person, but she is also incredible at what she does! So without further ado… let’s meet today’s Friday Feature!

Who are you and what do you do?

Margaret Hinkley – I am the owner of Two Buds Floral Artistry.

What makes you unique in your field?

I think that there is a lot more to floral design than just placing flowers in a vase – anyone can do that and flowers are in themselves beautiful. However, when you visit a florist, we thrive on creativity and design. I think combined with creativity, experience and a passion for what I do, that’s what separates me from other florists.

I will go above and beyond to ensure that my clients are happy and that I am creating exactly what they envisioned. A true passion for the floral industry, for design and for staying on top of trends and new products – that’s when I become more unique. Always growing in a world that’s constantly changing.

Why do you love what you do?

Floral design is something you can get lost in – much like anything that you feel passionate about. I love what I do not only because it’s fun and creative, but because I get to design a product for someone that is thoughtfully curated to convey a message or a reason. Sometimes when you don’t know what to say or how to feel, you can turn to flowers to say it. I love being the person who gets to create a design that reflects that.

What is one main thing that you wish couples knew about what you do?

There is a fantastic article by Going Bloom that I recommend. Read it here. This is what I wish for everyone to understand about flowers – the value of a flower.

What is your favourite restaurant in Edmonton?

I may be a little biased (my cousin is the owner/head chef), but I absolutely love the Riverbank Bistro in St Albert. For in Edmonton – I am more of a pub person and I love hitting up Duggan’s Boundary Irish Pub on Wednesdays for a little open mic night when I have the chance – The Irish Banger pizza is a favourite!

What is your favourite Edmonton festival?

This is a tough question – I love food so anything that has lots of that is my favourite! Taste of Edmonton or Heritage Days. Another favourite of mine are the Art Walks… Edmonton is so diverse and talented in the art and design scene and as a small business owner, I love supporting local talent!

What would you recommend to couples as being the best date night in Edmonton?

Depending on the time of the year – probably spending some time at the Folk Festival. It has everything – live music, food, drinks and then winding down under the stars cuddled up next to your love on the hill – sounds pretty perfect to me!

What countries have you visited, and what was the most memorable experience?

I haven’t done much travelling – but I have spent time in North Dakota where I went to University there. A lot of people don’t know that – I went to school there because I received an ice hockey scholarship. My time spent there was amazing and definitely an experience I will never forget. When you are playing with a team, a group of ladies that becomes your family, you experience everything together and through those first years after high school… we had a lot of learning to do! I really don’t know if anything will top all of our trips to other schools and states, all the hours spent in hockey rinks and the friendships made. I am starting to plan a trip to Thailand though for 2020 which will be one of my first big trips!
