THE AFRICAN MERCY

MERCY SHIPS

Around the world millions are in urgent need of surgical care.

Mercy Ships has delivered free life changing surgeries to over 2.5 million people in need since 1978. We serve the world’s poorest nations identified by the United Nations Human Development Index.

Our ship, the Africa Mercy, is the world’s largest charity hospital ship, bringing state-of-the-art medical treatment to those without.

Our crew of 400 are volunteers from 35 different countries, who pay their own travel and room and board expenses to serve with us.

We also train local health professionals in surgical, dental, nursing and sterilizing techniques. We renovate existing building structures to provide improved medical care and access. Together we transform lives, and bring hope and healing to the world’s forgotten poor.

A CHILD’S FUTURE

COMPASSION CANADA

Compassion Canada seeks to end poverty in the lives of children and their families.

Compassion has learned over the years that things won’t change communities—people will.
Real and lasting change happens when children are developed to become the adults who will create change in their community. In Compassion’s program through their partnership with the local church children learn they are loved, they begin to develop hope for their future, and they realize that God wants to use them to help others. And these children grow up to be givers and community leaders.

Edmonton’s youth

TEGLER CENTRE

Kids need a safe and fun place to hang out, be challenged, and grow as individuals.

For over 80 years, Hope Mission has been working to break the cycle of poverty for Edmonton’s kids. The Tegler Youth Centre helps to provide hope and a brighter future–a future without hunger, homelessness or addiction.

The centre allows kids to make meaningful connections with both adults and other kids, through planned after school activities and hearty, healthy meals. These meals, shared with staff, are a highlight for many kids near the end of the program as they provide the only real nourishment for some of the kids that day.
